Dr. Bronner’s Supports Social Justice & Environmental Causes Through All-One! Australia Initiative

Lateral Food, Australian Partner of Global Fair Trade & Organic Soap Brand Donates Portion of Sales to Support Mission Aligned Organisations Throughout Australia

MELBOURNE, AUS – Dr. Bronner’s is more than just your average soap brand. Renowned the world over as natural product pioneers, Dr. Bronner’s is now leaving their ethical footprint across Australia with their colourful range of soaps and personal care products—and by giving back to Australia’s progressive non-profits through their local distributor, Lateral Food Corporation.

“Dr. Bronner’s is a global leader in ethical, cruelty-free, organic and fair trade body care, creating a positive impact through producing socially and environmentally responsible products of the highest quality, and dedicating profits to help make a better world,” says Tammy Aronson Seligmann, General Manager of Lateral Food, Dr. Bronner’s distribution partner in Australia. “The company supports various causes such as fair trade, wage equality, regenerative organic agriculture, animal advocacy, drug policy reform, and other causes committed to ensuring social justice and environmental sustainability. Through the All-One! Australia initiative, we are directing resources to local organisations aligned with these causes.”

As part of these efforts, each month an organisation is chosen to receive a portion of sales through the Dr. Bronner’s Australia website. In 2017, All-One! Australia made donations to several non-profits including the refugee support organisation, The Asylum Seeker Resource Center; LGBTQAI support organisation, QLife; and animal protection and environmental organisations, Edgar’s Mission, Voiceless, Take 3, and Sea Shepherd Australia. Lateral Food and Dr. Bronner’s will continue this effort in 2018 to ensure that sales in Australia help benefit local advocacy and activism.

The Bronner family has been making soap since 1858 with their roots tracing back to the town of Heilbronn, Germany. Dr. Bronner’s in its current form, however, was founded in 1948 in the United States by third generation soap maker, Emanuel Bronner. The soaps label was created to reflect his personal “All-One!” philosophy, renouncing hate and war and promoting unity and peace, informed by losing his parents to the Holocaust. All these years later, the business is still family owned and run. With David and Michael Bronner now at the helm, as CEO and President respectively, Dr. Bronner’s is carrying on the legacy of their grandfather by positioning the brand as an engine to advance positive social change, while promoting the importance of choosing organic, sustainable and ethically produced products and dedicating all profits not needed for business development to social and environmental causes.

“At Dr. Bronner’s, we started sourcing ethically certified organic ingredients for our products in 2000, and were one of the first brands to certify its soaps, lotions and balms under the USDA National Organic Program in 2003,” said Michael Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner’s. “Every day we are more inspired to continue sourcing major raw materials from certified Fair Trade and regenerative organic projects around the world, and are committing the returns to take these ethics even further. Dr. Bronner’s isn’t just about soap, it’s about creating dialogue around the products we use as consumers and realising that each individual can make a difference.”

Dr. Bronner’s is a family business committed to honouring the vision of founder Emanuel Bronner by making socially and environmentally responsible products of the highest quality, and by dedicating profits to help make a better world. The company’s commitment to progressive business practices is part of the company’s mission to put into practice the principles that inform the philosophy printed on the company’s iconic soap labels written by founder Emanuel Bronner. Bronner was a third generation soap maker who spent his life renouncing hate and war on a personal mission to unite mankind. His strong views and lectures landed him in a mental asylum in Chicago, but eight months later in 1948, Bronner escaped and continued with his message in California. During this time, he also began making peppermint liquid soap under the Dr. Bronner’s brand. He gave the soap away during his talks but soon realised people were taking it without listening to him speak. As a result, he started writing his philosophy on the bottle in tiny script, which is still used on Dr. Bronner’s packaging today.
