Global Organic Soap Brand and Social Fashion Label People Berlin Open Temporary Educational & Retail Space to Raise Awareness of Social Justice Initiatives
April 5, 2018
BERLIN, DE – Dr. Bronner’s, the global organic and fair trade soap and body care brand, with its European headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, will celebrate the opening of its first pop-up outlet in Berlin in partnership with the charitable project People Berlin on Thursday, April 26, 2018. The shared store concept, named “Round Table,” is located in Hackesche Höfe in the Mitte district in Berlin. The space will be run by Dr. Bronner’s and People Berlin and open from late-April to September 2018. It will function not only as a retail space, but also as a meeting place for people from different social backgrounds as a platform for exchange and dialogue.
“We are seeing unprecedented inequality in the world. We need to create dignified opportunities for homeless youth to attain a higher quality of life,” says Michael Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner’s. “Our company mantra is ‘We Are All-One or None!’ and we believe the privileged have a basic human responsibility to help the under-privileged. It is an honor to create a space with People Berlin where these needs can be addressed and improved through compassion, collaboration, and education.”
In addition to creating fashion and art objects, People Berlin will work in cooperation with young people in difficult situations, designers, and creatives through their studio space, with Dr. Bronner’s selling its entire European line of products in the outlet, using the space to educate consumers about topics like fair trade, constructive capitalism, and regenerative organic agriculture, among other topics. Visitors will be encouraged to try products, ask questions, and share ideas.
“Dr. Bronner’s is a global leader in ethical, cruelty-free, organic, and fair trade products. As the European outpost of this iconic and visionary brand, our objective is to spread Dr. Bronner’s mission and products throughout Germany and the rest of Europe,” says Axel Rungweber, Managing Director of Dr. Bronner’s Europe. “We are inspired by the authentic and community-oriented approach of People Berlin and are thrilled to collaborate with the organization. Together we hope to make a positive impact and help raise awareness about their work, then leverage the synergy between our company and their organization in Berlin and beyond.”

People Berlin, a project of Karuna e.V., works to help young people in need. At-risk children and adolescents struggling with lack of opportunities, homelessness, addiction, or mental illness are given the possibility of working with fashion and art. The world of fashion is the ideal medium for transporting the visions and thoughts of young people and creating a perception for them within society. The organization provides space and opportunity for creative exchange through workshops where young people can learn conceptual work, develop their skills, and sharpen their self-perception. Together with designers and creatives, youth are invited to collaborate on artistic collections that deal with relevant contemporary themes and include both fashion and objects to give a voice to their ideas. This creative work helps young people to overcome the lack of prospects and to discover their own strengths and self-worth. People Berlin represents what constitutes the collaborative process: the people who are part of it. For more information about People Berlin, please visit: http://www.peopledesign.de
