Many communities are celebrating World Fair Trade Day a few days before or after May 8th. WFTD is the largest Fair Trade event in North America, with over 65,000 people having participated in 2009.
Fair Trade My Home
World Fair Trade Day in North America this year is accompanied by the theme, “Fair Trade My Home.”
When we expand Fair Trade at home, we not only support the people who make the items we consume and enjoy, we also support the environment, women’s rights, children’s rights, cultural dignity and peace building. That’s a powerful thing to do by committing to use Fair Trade items at home.
Commit to expanding your use of Fair Trade soap and other bodycare products, sugar, clothes, toys, coffee, chocolate, baskets, picture frames, bananas, rice, tea, soccer balls, flowers, wine and more! High quality, Fair Trade products are available for every room in your home. Retail sales in the U.S. of Fair Trade products surpassed $1 billion per year.
